Thank
you to those of you who work hard to share your joy of the dance activity and
remain an active part of the dance community.
We have a hard time understanding why club and convention numbers keep
declining when every dancer we know loves and enjoys it so much. We believe square dancers are the Greatest
People on Earth. Why aren’t there more
of us? We think our memberships should
be growing!
Are
we doing all we can to help maintain the 20 square dance (including advanced)
and 2 round dance clubs we currently have in the SONKSDF? Are we showing our enthusiasm by
participating in the following?
- Attending home club dances on a regular basis
& visiting other clubs as well
- Participating in demonstrations to share the joy
of our activity
- Helping Hospitality by making sure everyone feels
welcome
- Offering lessons to keep your club growing
- Talking with non-dancers about how much fun you
have dancing, with bonuses of exercise and friendship
- Inviting friends, family and acquaintances to
take lessons
- Being an encouraging angel for dance lessons
- Offering a well-rounded dance program at club
dances
- Patting people on the back and saying “Thank You”
- Reading Square Notes and visiting the
SONKSDF Website to keep up on current events and activities
- Being involved in Club and Federation community
fundraisers
- Calling dancers who miss several dances to let
them know they are missed
- Attending State & National Conventions
- Being involved in your home club leadership
- Attending scheduled banner raids/retrievals
- Supporting Federation sponsored functions, such
as the Honors Dance, Callers & Teachers Assoc. Picnic and Ronald
McDonald House Benefit Dance
- Welcoming new students into your square and
encouraging them when they make a mistake
- Making sure we do our part to make dances fun and
friendly
