Barb Bennett is the Club's Line Dance Caller and she is assisted by her affable husband Tim. There is at least one Line Dance held each dance, and Barb takes all interested parties through a brief instruction period before the music commences.
Barb's and Tim's Background
I began line dancing around 1990 with a girlfriend. My husband, Tim, was not involved in line dancing at this time but started line dancing with me around 1991. Around this time, we joined a line dance club called Boot Scooters in Milford, Ohio and took lessons there until 1999 learning both the lines and couples dances. In 1999, this club closed and we needed something else to do Tuesday nights! Friends came across a sign advertising square dance lessons and we thought, “That would be fun – let’s give this a try”. Well - the rest is history. The minute we walked into Frontier Squares and met the wonderful people and took their first lesson at square dancing – we were hooked!!
We still kept up with line dancing – going to country western dances and clubs and dancing whenever we could. Then in 2002 – at a square dance weekend with in Lexington, a group of square dancers asked if we would teach them some of the couples and lines we knew. We spent sometime on that Saturday teaching them and they seemed to really enjoy the dances. This small group grew and we started teaching lines at Frontier Squares in Milford, Ohio on Tuesday evenings. Then in 2004 – Barb joined CALLERLAB and the Frontier Square Club elected to add line dancing at the Club’s Friday night dances. We teach two lines a night.
We have taught lines at the 2004 Cincinnati Ohio State Convention and at several dance weekends hosted by Caller Jack Pladdys of the Cincinnati/Dayton area. We also taught at several social functions as well as teaching a class at a local civic center.
We live in Anderson Township on the east side of Cincinnati and have two married daughters and two wonderful grandchildren. Life is good for the Bennetts!!!!!
